ITINERARY

There are trips you take, and then there are trips that stay with you.

This one is the latter. In early 2026, we’ll be sailing from Santiago to Buenos Aires with four unforgettable days spent exploring the Antarctic Peninsula.

I’ve seen a lot of places in my time, but nothing compares to the stillness and scale of Antarctica. It’s humbling in the best way. And the route getting there? Chilean fjords, penguins in the Falklands, the southernmost city in the world. It's all part of the story.

If you’ve ever thought to yourself, “One day, I’ll go,” this could be that day.

Oceania Marina

Voyage dates: February 15 – March 07, 2026

Day 1: Start your journey in the Chilean port of San Antonio. Enjoy a relaxed boarding process and start settling into the luxurious comfort of Marina.

Day 2: Take your time to explore the ship at sea. There’s so much to this ship; from specialty dining to panoramic lounges. It’s a perfect day to rest, attend enrichment talks, or simply enjoy the view.

Pro Tip: Prepare for fluctuating temperatures onboard- lounges may get chilly. Keep a light sweater handy, and bring a refillable water bottle to stay refreshed during sea days.

Day 3: Nestled in Chile’s Lake District, Puerto Montt is a charming town that offers access to volcanoes, lakes, and lush landscapes. Optional excursions to Osorno Volcano or Petrohué Falls are popular.

Day 4: This place is known for its colorful stilt houses and UNESCO-listed churches, Castro blends small-town warmth with cultural intrigue. Look out for the local markets and unique Chilote crafts.

Day 5: Explore Puerto Chacabuco. It’s a remote port surrounded by fjords and forests. Great opportunity for nature-focused excursions, including visits to waterfalls, national parks, and wildlife reserves.

Day 6 and Day 7: Cruise the Chilean Fjords and sail through some of the most stunning, untouched waterways in the world. Expect dramatic cliffs, waterfalls, and potential wildlife sightings such as whales, dolphins, and sea lions.

Day 8: Explore Punta Arenas, which is a gateway to Patagonia, with optional visits to penguin colonies, historic sites, or a local estancia. A mix of adventure and Chilean heritage.

Pro Tip: Punta Arenas is windy and can be wet. Waterproof pants (Gore‑Tex or similar) and a durable windproof outer layer are musts, even on shore tours.

Day 9: This is your chance to visit the end of the world; Ushuaia, Argentina. It’s your last stop before heading to Antarctica. Great place for hiking or a scenic train ride through Tierra del Fuego National Park.

Day 10: This day is all about cruising the Drake Passage and crossing into Antarctic waters. Keep your camera ready for seabirds and the anticipation of entering one of the planet’s most pristine regions.

Day 11 to Day 14: Get ready to enjoy four full days immersed in the raw beauty of Antarctica. Expect towering icebergs, glaciers, and views of seals, whales, and colonies of penguins. Though landings aren’t scheduled (as per standard cruising norms), the scenery from deck is unforgettable. Enrichment lectures onboard will deepen your appreciation of this remote wilderness.

Day 15: This is your well-timed day at sea to reflect on Antarctica, review your photos, and enjoy the comforts of the ship.

Day 16: Explore Port Stanley, which is known for its wildlife (especially penguins) and rugged coastline. You can stroll the streets of the town as it is quaint and walkable, or you can join an excursion to Gypsy Cove.

Pro Tip: Port Stanley offers superb wildlife viewing, including Magellanic penguins and sea lions. Bringing a good pair of binoculars lets you enjoy wildlife from a respectful distance.

Day 17: Another relaxing day at sea. You can attend a cooking demo, visit the spa, or join a book club with fellow guests.

Day 18: Enjoy this day at Puerto Madryn. Explore its famous marine life and Welsh heritage. If you’re lucky enough, you might spot sea lions.

Pro Tip: If you’re a tea person, visit the charming town of Gaiman for traditional Welsh tea.

Day 19: Final full day onboard. Pack, reminisce, and toast to your journey over dinner at one of the ship’s specialty restaurants at sea.

Day 20: Arrive in Buenos Aires; the vibrant, tango-filled city in the evening. Spend your last night onboard with views of the city skyline.

Pro Tip: Arriving in the evening gives you a relaxed start. Choose a table at a neighborhood parrilla (steakhouse) with views of Río de la Plata. No need to rush to typical tourist spots.

Day 21: Disembark and explore Buenos Aires further. or transfer to the airport for your flight home, carrying memories of a truly once-in-a-lifetime voyage. ;)
